Deflation via Deregulation
The Path Back to the American Volkswagen & Republican Unions
The Trump plan for deflating costs for Americans entails "de-regulation" - specifically, removing safety and ecological rules imposed by the Obama and Biden administrations which made pretty much everything more costly to produce.
Americans Are Poor People - Prefer Enjoyment Today to Health Tomorrow
Americans are now a poor people, and they no longer have the energy or coherence to raise a fuss about pollutants returning to their ecology. For instance, while hybrid and electric cars reduce vehicle emissions, mileage mandates impose massive costs on the auto industry - entire factories, decades-old and depreciated, become obsolete, and the American car buyer has to now pay-off the new factory (and the entire associated EV/hybrid supply chain) which produces hybrid and electric vehicles.
De-regulation Means Re-using Fully Depreciated Capital - Huge Returns
De-regulation also means that assets already mothballed or scheduled to be mothballed now have enormous economic value: an insider "vulture fund" or well-informed corporate player could use an edge on impending de-regulation to acquire these depreciated assets cheaply and, after the de-regulation and re-valuation of the assets, sell them to the market for a windfall profit or issue stock after a re-valuation of the company.
Deregulated Markets Are Tariff-Proof Markets
With cars, for example, non-hybrid vehicles have vastly simpler supply chains, with redundant vendors and far less dependency on the "rare earths" or non-rare earth IP. Allowing lower fleet mileage for auto manufacturers enables production with far less dependence on direct Chinese imports for things yet to be capitalized for production within the USA.
Electric Vehicles, outside of Tesla, means Chinese vehicles.
Historically, Autarky Means Lower Quality/Higher Pollution
Historically, pushes for autarky result in lower quality and higher pollution. In the case of the Trump administration, it also entails windfall profits for well-positioned players with leverage to factories and supply chains to revive markets that faced an effective ban under previous administrations.
Buying-Out the UAW & Mobilizing Trump's "Hard Hat" Street Army
Turning the UAW into a Republican Union requires de-regulation to swell its ranks with pro-American, "patriotic" workers. In fact, the Unions across America, mostly dominated by Democrats, prove essential to Trump as his "hardhats" against increased street-level agitation from Team Blue, as ICE has no mandate to do anything but generate media as a glorified "WWE" event for Trump's increasingly impoverished and confused base.
Because Unions would be multiracial and religiously ambiguous, it provides far superior "optics" for any street confrontation against Team Blue. Furthermore, a strong "Union Army" for Trump means he can formally abandon any pretense of White Nationalist in his administration without losing his "street militia".
